Born in Columbia, Missouri to a public school teacher and career NAVY Doctor, Judy has devoted her entire career to improving the quality of life of Missouri families. Through her work as a small business owner and service as a State Representative, Judy has led the fight to find innovative, meaningful solutions to problems facing Missouri.
Judy obtained degrees in educational psychology and health care administration from Mizzou as well as a Masters of Divinity from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where she met her husband John. She has taught economics and policy-making for three masters programs.
The proud mother of three children, Judy knows the financial struggles facing Missouri families and believes change is necessary throughout Missouri. Judy believes investing Missouri’s money in Missouri’s people is essential to the success of our state and health of our friends, families and communities. Whether it be a lack of access to resources to buy or build homes, the capital to start or expand businesses or the funds to pay for education, Judy believes the state’s investments and financial incentives should be used to promote the development of every Missourian.
A former State Representative, Judy was the ranking member of the budget, health care and education committees. Later, Judy served as Director of the Midwest region for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, taught Economics at Columbia College and Health Policy at the University of Missouri, and is currently a small business owner and Senior Fellow with the innovation accelerator, eRepublic and the Governing Institute.As our State Treasurer, Judy will make it easier for Missouri taxpayers to know how their money is being spent and make change to lead more educated, healthier financial lives.
